Meet The Doctors
Dr. Nelson Santos joined The Joint Chiropractic in 2024 when he became part of the teams at the Ventura and Oxnard clinics where he does the rewarding work of helping people as their local healthcare provider.
“My favorite part of working in this field is the opportunity to help patients who are suffering with pain and discomfort, following in my father's footsteps as a chiropractor,” he says. “Seeing firsthand what my father could do as a chiropractor made me want to be one too. I really enjoyed learning different techniques that I can now use to treat my patients.”
Dr. Santos grew up in Rio de Janeiro and Salvador, Brazil, as well as parts of Los Angeles including Culver City, Tarzana, Westwood, and West Los Angeles.
One of his favorite hobbies is watching sports such as soccer.
Dr. Santos studied Chiropractic Orthopedics at Los Angeles City College. He earned a Doctorate at Pasadena College of Chiropractic.
One of his most memorable experiences as a chiropractor was treating a mixed martial arts fighter who almost had to cancel his fight due to a neck injury. “He had to fly to Japan for the fight and if he couldn't feel better in time, he was going to cancel it,” he says.
Dr. Santos enjoys the hands-on approach at The Joint and sees the effectiveness of chiropractic adjustments with their patients.
In Case You Didn’t Know
Fresh fruit is a staple for Dr. Santos. “You can always find fruit in my kitchen because it’s so nutritious,” he says.
One of the coolest opportunities he’s ever had was serving on the medical staff of the 2001 U.S. Olympic Trials track and field team.
His favorite books are Gray’s Anatomy and the Bible.
